When Alexandra and Michael Misczynski first crossed paths, she was working for interiors legend Michael Smith, and he had just ventured out West after formative years with Rose Tarlow and Richard Meier in New York. The two hit it off both personally and professionally, and Michael asserts it was Tarlow who eventually persuaded them to strike out on their own. Founded in 2002, the duo’s quasi-eponymous design firm Atelier AM melds their styles, reflecting thoughtful and detail-oriented interiors that capture American and European sensibilities alike. From luxury apartments to seaside retreats, each project is one-of-a-kind—including its own family-friendly home in Los Angeles.
