Orascom Construction Latest Projects
Last year’s quarter was a rich one for Orascom Construction, In addition to the ongoing projects, it signed numerous contracts and delivered many projects that are considered an award for its efforts across the last 50 years. . The projects included Egypt’s first high-speed rail system, the state-of-the-art Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center, and Abu Rawash Sewage Treatment Plant.
Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center
It’s one of the ongoing projects that Orascom is still working on to deliver by 2023. It’s a 300-bed hospital that will meet the patient’s needs to allow them to have a healthy and integrated caring environment. The center is located in a spot that is considered one of the most beautiful natural locations in Egypt, where it has a high percentage of fresh air and overlooks the Pyramids of Giza. Working on this project started in 2018.
The First Phase of High-Speed Rail
Last October (2021), Egypt’s National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) signed a $4.5-billion rail construction contract, on an engineering construction to a consortium that includes Orascom Construction, to contribute to the first phase of a planned 1800-kilometer high-speed electrified rail line. Orascom, within that consortium, was awarded a 15-year maintenance contract for the track works and telecommunication system.
Abu Rawash Sewage Treatment Plant
It is decided to deliver all the works of the second stage this year (2022). It is the second-largest sewage treatment plant after the Bahr El Baqar wastewater treatment plant. Abu Rawash Sewage Treatment Plant will operate at 1,600,000 cubic meters per day serving a population of 9 million people in Giza.

The consortium between Orascom Construction and The Arab Contractors, which implemented the 4th stage of the 3rd metro line, delivered the best international Award for the category of transport and railway according to (Engineering News-Record ENR) a popular American magazine in the construction field.
